Motoko Kusanagi - Ghost in the Shell
|
Quick Pencil Practice sketch of Major Motoko Kusanagi (real name unknown as clearly fake) from Shirow Masamune (also a fake name)'s Manga (Comic) 'Ghost in the Shell'. This is her (if she is only a single person)'s cyborg body from March 2029 with her more common mid-tone brown hair, back when her unit was independent working with Public security, prior to unit being merged with them.
I must say there have been quite a few versions based on Ghost over the years but pretty much all of them fall short, mostly due to making things serious and removing pretty much all of Masamune's humour. Domination: Tank Police got away quite well with this (but... It gets confusing.. the 4 part OVA is a prequel to the original comic, 'new Domination' series is kinda a sequel, then Masasume did a completely remake called 'No more noise' which doesn't appear to follow on at all.. unless they explain it more with a huge time gap to explain all the changes.. but then he didn't do much of that and has yet to finish it.
About the only version which I felt kept the humour and the Major's character right is the PS1 Game. They even keep the character designs, unlike most animated versions which make them more 'serious styled'. Shame. But then, they also moan at his taste in doing adult works which some of that bleeds into his more 'standard' works.
Anyway, Watch the 4 part Domination OVA, note the humour. That is pretty much the style used in most of Masaume's work (atlesst up to the early 2000s.. Don't know much of his work after that).
